This year, I took a meaningful step forward by joining the ONE Komen community and signing up for the Susan G. Komen RACE FOR THE CURE. It's a decision fueled by my personal journey with breast cancer, one that's deeply intertwined with the stories of my loved ones and friends.
In 2004, my mother, Jo Franklin, lost her battle with breast cancer. She was only 52 years old, and I was just 26. Her fight against breast cancer deprived her of countless moments - from sharing in the joy of my wedding day to the simple pleasures of watching her grandchildren grow up. I miss her every day.
But that's not the end of the story, there's also resilience. Fast forward to today, and I find myself walking with my boss and friend, Paula, as she confronts her own battle with breast cancer. Paula's diagnosis hit close to home, stirring memories of my mother's journey. Yet, there's a crucial difference - advancements in medical technology over the past two decades have given Paula a fighting chance that my mother never had.
I'm walking on Paula's team as a symbol of solidarity, as a tribute to my mother's memory, and as a testament to the progress we've made in the fight against breast cancer. By participating in this race, I'm honoring the strength of those who've faced breast cancer head-on and supporting the groundbreaking research that's paving the path towards a cure.
But I can't do this alone. I need your support. Your generosity can make a tangible impact in the lives of those affected by breast cancer. Every donation brings us ONE step closer to a world without breast cancer - a world where no one has to endure the pain of losing a loved one prematurely.
Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts. Together, let's stand united in our mission to end breast cancer forever.
Will you stand with me in this fight?
