In October 2022, just two weeks after celebrating her 36th birthday, Megan received the devastating diagnosis of stage 1, triple-positive breast cancer. In an instant, her world was turned upside down. She immediately underwent fertility preservation, followed by 18 grueling weeks of chemotherapy, multiple surgeries including a bilateral mastectomy, and endured 14 rounds of immunotherapy. As of April 6, 2024, Megan proudly celebrates one year of being cancer-free!
Megan's story underscores the importance of early detection. She was fortunate to follow her instincts and catch this deadly disease at an early stage. For many women, preventive mammograms aren't recommended until after the age of 40, which for someone like Megan, would have been too late. It's vital for women to be proactive about their health, advocating for themselves and staying informed about the risks.
In light of her journey, Megan and her supporters are dedicated to backing the Susan G Komen Foundation. They aim to raise awareness, offer support to those facing a breast cancer diagnosis, and above all, contribute to the search for a cure!
