Many of you know my wife, Diana, is a cancer warrior. For those that weren't aware, it was March 2016 when we got the call about her biopsy results and our lives forever changed. We caught it early, thank God. We also learned that there are different types of breast cancers. Diana had a particularly aggressive and extra nasty version called "triple negative". When we told our kids about Diana's diagnosis, she said with absolute conviction, "Don't worry, I'm going to whoop this cancers ass"!
Our family rallied and the fortunately for us Diana has been in remission for over 8 years. Sadly, though, too many amazing women are not as fortunate.
It shocks me to learn just how so many people are impacted by this awful disease. So many of you, when you learn about Diana's fight, share your own stories about someone you love who’s been impacted by breast cancer. Grandmothers, moms, sisters, aunts, friends... sometimes yourselves. And while we've come so far, there still is no cure. Someday, there will be though, thanks to the amazing researchers, doctors and others working to find it, and our support.
Our family rallied in 2016 to join that fight. We have been participating in the Susan B Komen annual Triangle Race for the Cure here in NC as "Team Whoop Ass". And thanks to so many of you, we've been one of the top fundraising teams each May. I'm hoping we can do it again this year.
If you know someone impacted by breast cancer or just want to sponsor Diana, please consider being part of Team Whoop Ass by donating to this great cause.
