Welcome to Kelsey's Page

Aug 9, 2024 was the day I felt like I got crushed by boulder.  Stage 3 Inflammatory Breast Cancer. The statistics are something my human mind simply couldn't grapple with. It was never about me, but always about them. My kids were 4 and 7.  How could they possibly deserve to have their mom taken away from them?

After nearly two years of intense treatment, I rang the bell and was declared cancer-free. But that boulder is still there. Still weighing me down with fear that the cancer will return and that I will be taken kicking and screaming away from my children.

The truth of it is my kids don't deserve to have their mom taken away and neither do the MILLIONS of other children faced with this same situation.  1 in 8 women will have breast cancer - again with those horrible statistics. We largely ignore them until it's us, or our mom, or sister, or wife or heaven forbid our daughter.

But the thing about being diagnosed with breast cancer now, is that we have HOPE. While incidences of breast cancer are on the rise, many of us are living longer because of new treatment options. Treatments that have come to fruition, in part, because of organizations like Susan G. Komen and their ability to organize people that care.

I'm fundraising today for them: for my kids and the all the others that don't deserve to lose their mommies.  (I mean who's going to make the beds? Am I right?)  I'm fundraising for HOPE. Thank you for visiting my page.
