Welcome to Team Rhino’s page!
We’re walking in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in NYC to celebrate someone very special to us: our fighter, Cris Diosa.
In 2020, Cris was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. She underwent a mastectomy, followed by months of intense chemotherapy and radiation. Today, we are incredibly grateful to say she is SIX YEARS CANCER FREE!
We will forever be thankful to Dr. Jon LaPook for connecting Cris with breast cancer surgeon Dr. Freya R. Schnabel, and to the entire team at NYU Langone’s Perlmutter Cancer Center who cared for her and worked so hard to save her life.
During treatment, her daughter Luisa started calling her “Rhino” because of the strength and determination she showed every single day. No matter how difficult things got, she kept charging forward. And six years later, the nickname still fits.
Cris is strong. She is a fighter. And she is an inspiration to all of us.
On October 24, Team Rhino will be walking in her honor and for every person and family impacted by breast cancer. We’re raising money to support breast cancer research and help bring us closer to a world without this disease.
