I am luckily over 6 years cancer free. It was quite a battle being diagnosed in October 2019, starting treatment November 1, 2019 which continued well into the pandemic. My surgery was at the height of the pandemic craziness in NY, April 22, 2020. I had to be dropped at the front of the hospital, Alone, I entered the plastic covered hospital halls with makeshift operating rooms in a hospital filled with covid patients. I had my first Covid test that day. No hospital stay for me, they sent me home as soon as the surgery was done with a lot of instructions and direct cell phone numbers for doctors and nurses. So crazy and scary but it all worked out. After many more months of treatment I began to heal and get stronger every day. Oh yeah and get my hair back, it was all grey who knew :) Now I fight each day for a cure working toward the day when no one else will have to fight this battle.
This year, I joined the Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. I will also be hosting my annual local Tarrytown Friends and Family walk on Sunday, September 27.
