Team Flowerparts is More Than Pink

I've participated in this event in honor of my grandmothers and the loved ones of friends. I never imagined that one day I'd be walking as a breast cancer survivor myself, especially in my 30s.

In January 2026, at just 38 years old, I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma.

I had no symptoms. The only reason my cancer was found was because of genetic testing and the knowledge I'd gained through friends, podcasts, and other resources. Seven emotional months, sleepless nights, countless hard conversations and two major surgeries later, I am incredibly grateful to say I am cancer-free.

While I'll continue hormone therapy and ongoing monitoring for years to come, I am thankful every day for early detection and the outcome of my journey.

It's frightening to think about what could have happened if I had been required to wait until age 40 for insurance to approve screening. Early detection saves lives. There is still so much people don't know about breast cancer screening, breast density, genetic risk factors, and how to advocate for themselves. I'm committed to sharing what I've learned in hopes of helping others do the same.

On October 3, I'll be walking in Houston with my team “Flowerparts”, named after my very favorite song, and I'd love for friends and family to join us. If you feel inclined to make a donation in the name of our team, I would be honored.

Every dollar raised helps fund groundbreaking research, provide support for those facing breast cancer, and break down barriers to care.
