Claudia's Crew Conquering Cancer

2026 started off with a bang. In my annual well women's checkup, my doctor detected a lump and asked me to get an ultrasound to check it out.  Less than a week later, I received the call no one wants to get. "Claudia, there is no easy way to say this, your results were positive, you have breast cancer."  I was shocked, especially since I had genetic testing done last January and was negative for the BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene which I thought meant I could not get breast cancer.  I was wrong. And so my journey to healing began.

Over the last 7 months I've been fighting to conquer this aggressive HER2 positive cancer. I completed 6 rounds of chemotherapy and had lumpectomy surgery to remove the tumor on July 13th. I've been blessed with a great team of doctors at MD Anderson and the unending support of my boys, my husband, and loving family and friends. They have given me so much motivation and have inspired me to be strong each and every day.

I want to do my part to make an impact to help end breast cancer and decided to form a team and walk in the race this October.  I am inviting you to join my team and walk with me in support of all the women who are fighting too. 
Your support helps us get one step closer to a world without breast cancer. Funds raised help support breakthrough research and provide assistance to those facing breast cancer who need our support.
