As I approach 3.5 years since my breast cancer diagnosis, I’ve learned that survivorship is something you carry with you every single day. You may finish treatment, ring the bell, and move forward with life—but cancer never truly feels like something you can simply leave behind.
With every year that passes, I seem to hear more and more stories of people affected by this horrible disease. This past year has been especially difficult. I lost my dear friend, Kristina Montgomery, who fought so incredibly hard and so valiantly for years before gaining her angel wings. This year’s walk is dedicated to her.
And sadly, Kristina’s story is not the only one. More and more people close to me have been diagnosed, are going through treatment, or are watching someone they love battle cancer. As a survivor, it can be heartbreaking and, at times, overwhelming to see how many lives this disease continues to touch.
But this is exactly why I keep showing up. Why I keep talking about it. Why I keep walking.
I walk to honor Kristina and everyone who has fought, is fighting, and will unfortunately face this disease. I walk to raise awareness. I walk because early detection matters. And I walk because I want a future where our daughters, sisters, mothers, friends—and all of us—don’t have to hear the words, “You have breast cancer.”
So please, get your mammogram every year, encourage the women you love to do the same, know your body, and don’t ignore something that doesn’t feel right. And if you are able, please consider donating to Rejani’s Rack Pack. Every donation helps support the fight to end breast cancer and brings us one step closer to a world without this disease.
For Kristina. For every survivor. For every fighter. For every angel. And for all of us.
We walk until there’s a cure.
Please donate, share our team, and donate to help us end breast cancer once and for all.
