2026 Komen Detroit Race for the Cure

This year, on September 12, I will be participating in the Komen Detroit Race for the Cure for the 22nd time, excluding two Covid years when I did not participate virtually. I began in 2002, after the death of my best friend due to Stage 4 breast cancer. Then I was diagnosed in 2003 & again 20 years later in 2023. As most of you, my loyal supporters, know, my mother had breast cancer twice before passing due to lung cancer, & a maternal grandmother & paternal aunt also died of this disease. I feel blessed to be a survivor due to excellent care I received at Karmanos so it is important for me to help other women who are not as fortunate. Komen provides essential care services, supports  breakthrough research & advocates for quality health care for those impacted by the disease.
