Sorenson Family is More Than Pink
In June 2024, our family's world was turned upside down; I had been informed that I had breast cancer. Between Essentia in Duluth, MN and Mayo in Rochester, MN, my doctors came up with a game plan. I started 12-weeks of chemo in July 2024. Nov 6, 2024, I had a double mastectomy at the Mayo. On Nov 7th, I received the news... I was cancer free! The Chemo had done its job! There were no cancer cells left in the tissue that was removed or in the lymph nodes. That news made having to go thru Chemo worth it. Then to round out my journey, I returned to the Mayo again in July 2025 for my reconstruction surgery. I did opt to use my own body tissue vs implants. I did not like the idea that with implants there would be more surgeries down the road.
My doctors at both the Mayo Rochester and Essentia Duluth have been amazing and I will forever be grateful for their care.
I am now all healed up and getting back into shape. Being able to workout and run again has felt amazing both mentally and physically.
