2026 Komen Columbus Race for the Cure

At 32 years old, with two young boys who still need bedtime stories and morning hugs, my life took a turn I never saw coming, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.

I asked all the questions: Why me? How is this my life? But cancer doesn’t answer questions. It doesn’t explain. So I made a choice.

I chose to fight.

I fought for myself. For my boys. For my husband. For my family and friends. And for anyone who needs to see that this battle can be won. On my hardest days, when everything in me felt exhausted and beaten down, I held onto that, who I was doing this for.

The past eight months have been the hardest of my life. But I kept going. Because the only way out is through.

Along the way, I was lifted by more love than I ever knew existed: family, friends, coworkers, even strangers. The support I received carried me in ways I'll never be able to put into words.

Step by step. Day by day. I did it.

Today, I stand here not just as someone who faced cancer but as someone who beat it. Wow that feels good to say.

So to cancer, I’ll say this one more time: your time is up.

Now, I’m walking in the Race for the Cure, not just for me, but for everyone still fighting, for the survivors, and for the ones we’ve lost.
