My Story
On December 20th as I was getting ready to board a flight from my corporate trip to Southern California in route to San Francisco to see my in laws and friends and meet my husband and children there … I received a phone call that would take my breath away more then the moment I found out my dad had passed alittle over a year ago.
As I pulled over into SNA Airport, found a quiet spot in heard the words “ your tests have come back positive”. I said no I have been so healthy and working on my personal health for the last year working out and eating proper and following guided regiments. She told me she needed me to stay calm until my doctor called. I received the dreaded phone call confirming all three of my biopsies were positive for cancer cells. That word was like bricks falling, once the shock was over I got into the zone, I have spent 20+ years of my life dedicated to clinical research , this cancer was going to be fought with ALL my might. My persistent and blessed profession got me into see an oncologist right away.
After 12 rounds of harsh chemo, cold capping, a double mastectomy , 36 rounds of radiation , 6 months of oral chemo, and now finally post op from reconstruction, I am standing here stronger than ever.
If I had not found the support groups and foundations which make us survivors stronger and a community I would have not been able to push through. I am on my way to full recovery and thankful each day for my 2 boys who light up my life and everyday that I wake up to them is a realization of how precious life really is !
