Hi! So, if you've made it this far, im about to let you in on a secret ....
My name is Jennifer and I am a survivor of invasive ductile carcinoma (stage 1b). Of course, this entire journey has taken his toll on our family. So we haven't publicly posted things on Facebook or any other social media. In fact, this is the first time we've put anything in print and sent it to anyone that we knew outside of my care team circle.
I had a prophylactic double mastectomy Valentine's Day 2024 at UTSW (who saved my life!), and have been going through reconstruction (a few hiccups).. I did not need radiation or chemotherapy, thankfully.
I ask that you donate to this Foundation. I did not get to take advantage of any of their services, but I know a lot of women do, and a lot of women need it.
I also asked that you donate to a foundation called knitted knockers. During some really hard times, their free services helped me feel a little bit normal. If I could knit, I would be knitting them now. https://www.knittedknockers.org/
I've always walked the Komen Race for other people, but now I walk for myself and my daughter. Maybe we will get to a point to where she doesn't have to worry about breast cancer. I also walk for my friends who helped me along this journey, but didn't make it to the end with me. I think them with our kindness, clarity, and support, and I will never forget their names or what they meant to me.
Thank you for visiting my page, and for your delicacy still during this time - And cheer us on Saturday, October 18 while Cleon and I walk 5K!
Love you all -
Jen
