Eradicating breast cancer is very personal to me. I lost my mother to this disease when she was just 39. My grief and journey to process her death has been lifelong, primarily because I wasn't equipped as a young girl to understand that speaking about her would help to bring me peace.
Then four years ago I became involved with Susan G. Komen. I was encouraged to share my story, and I found a safe place to speak to others within my company who had been impacted by breast cancer. We began organizing walks, spreading awareness, and just rallying around a meaningful cause. Komen's organizers are phenomenal people who genuinely care about research, assistance and creating a world without breast cancer. Simply put, sharing my story, even though I can't change it, has meant everything to me.
We're a small but mighty group this year in Dallas and we're walking in honor of my mom and all the incredible people we love who have been impacted by breast cancer. If you're able, we would appreciate a tax-deductible donation.
