Rain was in the forecast, so we just geared up and headed out. Biking was not in the cards this year, but an unexpected opportunity made the day even more special... Komen reached out just days before the Race and asked if I would like to give a short speech at the opening ceremony. I said yes!
Standing there, I was flooded with emotion. This journey has been deeply personal, and I am constantly reminded of the incredible support I have received. If you are reading this, that includes YOU. So many of you have walked beside me, donated year after year, and shared your own stories. Together, we have paid it forward...contributing to research, hope, and the fight to make breast cancer no more.
As we began the walk, the rain cleared and we were escorted onto the path by a lively New Orleans-style jazz band. The energy was electric.
I am thrilled to share that I have exceeded my fundraising goal! I am deeply grateful for every donation...your generosity drives progress and means the world to me. Whether you have walked, donated, cheered from afar, or simply read this message, you are part of this movement. Thank you for being by my side all these years.
If you have not had a chance to donate yet, it is not too late, every contribution makes a difference. I really appreciate it!
In Good Health,
Karen
Pre Race Comments:
September is almost here, and that means it?s time for the NYC Race for the Cure! I?m celebrating another year of good health by paying it forward and raising funds to help beat breast cancer.
I?ve walked, I?ve run ? and this year, I?m kicking it up a notch: I?m riding! Charles and I recently got new bikes and have been loving our rides around the neighborhood and through NYC?s amazing bike paths. There are so many to explore!
So this year, we?ll be riding loops around Central Park to celebrate our health and support this important cause.
Please join me once again in celebrating life, health, and the fight against breast cancer. Every little bit makes a difference. Thank you!
Let's ride!
