As many of you know, I was diagnosed with breast cancer a year and a half ago. Hearing those words was devastating—everything shifted in an instant. In those early weeks, I fell off the grid. I needed time and space to find my footing, to process what was happening to my body and my mind.
We all know this kind of diagnosis is possible, but no one ever really thinks it’ll be their reality. For two months, I retreated to find a sense of peace with the unknown. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever faced.
But I wasn’t alone. I had the most incredible support system—friends and family who lifted me up in ways I’ll never forget. The generosity, the kindness, the love—I was blown away. And now, it’s my turn to give back.
Since my diagnosis, two friends—and friends of friends—have also been diagnosed. One in eight women will face this. That number is staggering. I’ve made a personal pledge to be there for anyone who needs support on this journey, however I can help. From diagnosis and beyond, no one should walk this road alone.
That’s why I’m participating in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Walk. Step by step (no pun intended), we can all do something to push toward a cure—and support those fighting now. Even $5 makes a difference. Walking, running, donating, or just raising awareness—every act matters.
I’d love for you to join me. In walking, in giving, in remembering that we are stronger together. For all who are, have, or will be impacted by this disease—I walk for you.
