2025 Komen Houston Race for the Cure

I have participated in the Race for the Cure since I was diagnosed with breast cancer over 28 years ago.  At the time, my kids were 5 and 7.  I was worried that they would have to grow up without a mom.  Thankfully, after a year of active treatment (3 surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation) and 5 years of pills, I was in remission, where I have stayed.  I was so thankful for the treatments and studies that Komen pioneered which gave me a chance to live long enough to see my kids grow up. I saw both of my kids get married in 2022 and last year was blessed with my first Grandchild.  I feel very lucky to have survived this long.  That is why I fundraise for Komen.  I want to give every woman/man the chance to not get breast cancer, or to survive it if they do get the dreaded disease.  As of now, 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer during their lives.

The picture on my page is of me at the last Honor Roll Dinner where I was honored for being a top fundraiser.  It is my goal to again be a top fundraiser!
