On December 6, 2024 (8 days after we lost David's dad to cancer) I found out I have breast cancer. I had no symptoms except for a very small lump I found in my armpit in the fall. I paid attention to it, noticed when it started to change, and called my doctor. That little lump was one of the lymph nodes that my breast cancer had already metastasized to. I started chemo on January 7, 2025 and currently have 12 treatments remaining before surgery.
My unexpected cancer journey has taught me so many things and my goals now are to take back some of the power from the word cancer, talk openly about it, encourage people to do self checks, and support breast cancer research and other patients like me.
This year, I joined the Komen community and registered for the Columbus Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. As a current breast cancer patient, I am dedicated to Komen's mission of ending breast cancer forever, and I need your help. Please consider joining my team to walk for the cure or making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.
