Three years ago I participated in this race not knowing what the future would bring. I was newly diagnosed and scared for my life. That phrase “You have breast cancer” was still ringing in my ears and I was digesting my options. Little did I know that my mother would be diagnosed 6 months later and together we would fight. My family has shown immense support and my cousin Kelly wanted to be a part of the race this year but unfortunately also got her own diagnosis and will begin her fight and treatment.
I’m happy to say my mother and I are on the other side of this horrible disease while Kelly is just beginning hers. This race was empowering, inspiring and with all of the continuous contributions to breast cancer research I’m hopeful we find a cure in my lifetime. I do this for me, my mother, my daughter and now my cousin Kelly.
Ending breast cancer needs all of us, and your generosity can make a real difference. Together, let’s show breast cancer patients there’s a whole community standing by their side.
