Pinky B story: Pinky B started back in 2009 after my mother Beatriz Orejel was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008. I admired her strength, her love, her fight (for 7yrs), and her outlook on never giving up. Although she may not be here with us anymore, and taken too soon, I believe "You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and in the manner in which you live” Stuart Scott. This year I will continue my tradition in her memory. I love and miss you so much Mom.
My story: In 2021 I was first diagnosed with Pre-Breast Cancer, and little did I know that the next 2 ½ years were going to be whirlwind. Fast forward to 2024, I have had a total of 8 surgeries including two bilateral mastectomies. My most recent bilateral mastectomy took place this past February, with then a small procedure in April and definitely the hardest of them all. I may look great on the outside but my mobility and mental health has been quite challenging. If you know me, I like to stay active, and in the last two months I’ve been doing physical therapy, walking and trying to prep for this run. It has not been easy and many days, I have no desire and just want to quit. I know I’m not 100% recovered and it’s going to take time but I really want to run and cross that finish line. So ready or not, with whatever I have in me, F U cancer, Sept. 28th here I come.
So join and support me, by cheering me at that finsih line or donate to my page. Together, let’s show breast cancer patients there’s a whole community standing by their side. In moments like this, your generosity can make a real difference. #NoOneFightsAlone
