Last year when I participated in the Komen Detroit Race for the Cure for the 22nd time, I was celebrating 20 years of being a breast cancer survivor. Only days later, I learned that I had a recurrence which resulted in a bilateral mastectomy earlier this year. Both times I was fortunate to have an excellent treatment team at Karmanos Cancer Center but am even more aware that many women are not as lucky. That is why this fundraising effort is even more important to me than ever. Thanks to my loyal supporters, we have been able to contribute thousands of dollars over the years to this important cause. Money raised contributes to much needed research, treatment programs education & support services. I am dedicated to Komen's ONE mission of ending breast cancer forever & hope I can count on you again.
