December 2023 brought news that changed my life. I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Her2-postive breast cancer. At the age of only 30, and with being a mom, it was something I definitely didn’t expect to hear. Her2-postive breast cancer, is cancer that could spread throughout the body. Thank God, I caught it while it was only still in the breast.
With wanting to start this fight as soon as possible I had to make the quick decision if I still wanted to have more children. I’m so grateful that I was able to cryopreserve my eggs. January 2024, I started my 1st round of chemotherapy. I was blessed with the lumpectomy and radiation surgery option. With a lumpectomy I had to complete at least 6 rounds of chemotherapy before surgery to shrink the lump. But I would be able to keep both of my breast. After completing 6 rounds I had my surgery. The chemotherapy worked well. When they went in there was no existence of a lump, only scar tissue remaining. After testing the cancer tissue, it came back as showing noncancerous. Thank God I was cancer free! I am truly grateful! In August, I completed my radiation therapy after going every day for an entire month. I still have a few more steps to go but I am cancer free! I’m truly grateful for God keeping me.
I’ve been blessed with an amazing medical team at Memorial Hermann Cancer Center. This journey has been one of the toughest of my life, but I couldn’t have made it through without the love and support of my village. To my family and friends, I thank you for being my rock, my light, and constant source of strength during this time. Thank you to everyone who sent prayers, messages, calls, and visits. It means more to me than words can express. Your support carried me through my hardest days. Thank you for the continued prayers and support as I finish this journey, and it becomes my TESTIMONY.
October is breast cancer awareness month. Always remember to do your monthly self-checks, ladies and gentlemen (Yes, men can get breast cancer too). If something doesn’t feel or look right, there’s no harm in getting it checked out. It’s better to detect something early than later in time. I’m truly thankful that I caught my cancer early. I just hope my story helps or inspires someone else. If it’s one thing I do know now…Live Life to the Fullest! Happy Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

This year, I joined the ONE Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen RACE FOR THE CURE. I am dedicated to Komen's ONE mission of ending breast cancer forever, and I need your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.
Your support helps us get ONE step closer to a world without breast cancer. Funds raised help support breakthrough research and provide assistance to those facing breast cancer today who need our support. Whether it’s emotional support via Komen’s helpline, financial support through Komen’s treatment assistance program, or help navigating their care journey, Komen will be there for them.
In moments like this, your generosity can make a real difference. Together, let’s show breast cancer patients there’s a whole community standing by their side.
Will you please join me in this fight by making a donation today?
