My story begins 3 years ago when I was diagnosed bladder cancer. After two surgeries and numerous chemo treatments I have remained cancer free. The following year I was diagnosed with prostrate cancer which was low grade and slow growing. A decision was made to watch it while I was getting maintenance chemo for the bladder.
Last March, I was shocked by cancer once again with a diagnosis of throat cancer. I had a large inoperable tumor at the base of my throat and my tonsil. I had 6 weeks of daily radiation treatments and weekly chemo. After a difficult fight the tumor was gone and next three CT scans were clear. The cancer was gone, or so I thought. In March of this year I had a MRI to follow up on the previous diagnosis of prostate cancer. The follow up MRI showed some spots of concern on two ribs and my hip. After further testing, and biopsies I learned I had stage 4 metastatic bone cancer, to which there is no cure. This diagnosis was life changing. Since my original diagnosis and prior to the start of my current chemotherapy treatment my cancer spread to my lungs and three lymph nodes. I had radiation on my hip and ribs, and been receiving heavy doses of chemo and immunotherapy. The road ahead is long and hard.
In April, another one of our closest friends received the diagnosis of Glioblastoma, a very aggressive incurable brain cancer, and yet another friend with stage 4 ovarian cancer. I am asking you to support not only the Koman foundation and breast cancer, but help bring awareness to all cancers and understand the devastation the diagnosis brings.
My wife, who is my rock and has been by my side with encouragement and support is planning to walk with me on October 5th. In support of not only our dear friend Mel, who fought and won her fight against breast cancer 11 years ago but for the all the people fighting cancer, especially our friends, Debbie and Susan.
In moments like this, your generosity can make a real difference. Together, let’s show cancer patients there’s a whole community standing by their side.
Will you please join me in this fight to end cancer by making a donation today.
Thanks
