My journal entry December 2015: God always has plans for our lives. He sees way down the road, and He sets in motion the tools we need to handle life's trials if we will only allow Him to lead us! He sends the Holy Spirit to us to comfort us, but again, we must allow the Spirit to come in!
On October 28, 2015, God knew some doctor who was very unfamiliar to me would whisper the words, "the test came back positive"! Wow! Breast Cancer (triple-negative breast cancer)! I've supported this cause for such a long time and now here I am! But God! He knew and He prepared me for such a time as this! Thank You, God for choosing me! I told the Lord that I would honor and praise Him as I went through the journey.
Here is God's perfect timing. God choose my medical service team. Even though I knew a renowned breast cancer surgeon and I'd worked in a Breast Surgery Clinic, God did not choose him or any of the doctors I knew through my employment for my care team! I did not know any of those doctors prior to my diagnosis! A lumpectomy, chemo, and radiation were the pathway to bless me with the best survival option. November 11, 2015, God blessed me with a room filled with family and friends who supported me as the staff prepared me for surgery. One of my closest friends, petitioned God in a way that touched the spirit of everyone in that room! I knew I would be delivered from the claws of cancer! On March 8, 2016, my youngest daughter-in-love, Keia, celebrated her birthday. This was the day that my chemo was completed. On May 5, 2016, my oldest grandson, Tu, celebrated his birthday. This was the day that my radiation was completed. Three years later, my daughter-in-love, Keia, was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was blessed to serve her through her journey.
I have established a foundation called Four Piezes of My Heart to serve others who are fighting this disease. I am still honoring and praising God as I am embarking upon 9 years cancer free! Praise be to God!
I am walking in the Susan G. Komen RACE FOR THE CURE for my Aunt Irene, who was a conqueror for 20 years but succumbed to brain cancer a few years ago. I am also walking for Keia my daughter-in-love, my cousins Gina, and Geraldine, Sisters Mildred and Barbara, Mrs. Ida O., Mrs. Barbara J., Ms. Rubbie Lee, Ms. Margie, Ashley, Gaynelle, conquerors I have met through my Foundation and those sisters who have gone on after fighting the good fight!
This year, I joined the ONE Koen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen RACE FOR THE CURE. I am dedicated to Komen's ONE mission of ending breast cancer forever, and I need your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.
Your support helps us get ONE step closer to a world without breast cancer. Funds raised help support breakthrough research and provide assistance to those facing breast cancer today who need our support. Whether it’s emotional support via Komen’s helpline, financial support through Komen’s treatment assistance program, or help navigating their care journey, Komen will be there for them.
In moments like this, your generosity can make a real difference. Together, let’s show breast cancer patients there’s a whole community standing by their side.
Will you please join me in this fight by making a donation today?
