My Story
This year I registered for the Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk for the 15th year. October will be my 4th year anniversary of dealing with Susan G. Komen on a personal level.
I always thought that after the surgery and radiation my journey would be over. Boy was I ever wrong. There is blood work and visits with your Oncologist every 3 months that cost about $600. I take Letrozole every day (for 10 years) that is a hormone-based Chemo. Prolia injections every 6 months to off set what Letrozole can do to your bone density. Then Bone Density tests..... Prolia injections can cost over $4,000 with no insurance.
No one should have to make the choice of paying for their housing or putting food on the table instead of getting whatever treatment it is they need. Susan G. Komen helps fill those gaps and that is why I walk and try to raise money for those much less fortunate than me.
In moments like this, your generosity can make a real difference. Together, let’s show breast cancer patients there’s a whole community standing by their side.
