My Why......
Every year I tell my story of losing my mom at the age of 36 to metastatic breast cancer. It has defined who I am as a person & clearly set me on the path of the work I do for Komen.
It's been 44 years since my Beautiful mom succumb to this disease & although we have come a very very long way we have A LOT more work ahead of us.
Since my daily life involves interacting with breast cancer survivors & those living with metastatic disease, which is NOT curable, it makes sense that over time friends & acquaintances would lose their fight. Recently I've lost 2 amazing women who inspired me everyday to continue my work. Their loss has been heartbreaking, but also motivating. I will continue the fight for them & for all survivors & MBC Thrivers. My work is not done, OUR work is not done.
As my friend Jerri would say "Cancer don't mess with me!" I might use stronger language than she did, but the sentiment is the same.
Cancer don't mess with me or my loved ones!
Rest in Peace Jerri Livingston & Sheila Johnson, thank you for all you did to make life better for others & for making me a stronger person.
I'm asking you to please join my team to fundraise or make a contribution in support of my efforts.
My resolve has to be stronger than ever & I'm truly grateful for any donation you can make.
With Love & Determination,
~ Dawna
