Breast cancer has been part of my story for a long time. My mom was diagnosed in 2007, and after years of treatment, we lost her to the disease in 2013. Back then, I walked for her as part of the Booby Brigade.

In February 2026, breast cancer became my story too.

After a routine mammogram, I was diagnosed with an aggressive Stage I HER2-positive breast cancer. Since then, I’ve undergone a double mastectomy, 12 weeks of chemotherapy and HER2-targeted therapy, with more treatment still ahead.

Now I’m walking again, but this time as a survivor, a daughter, and one of the 2027 Komen Warriors.

Our old Booby Brigade has become The Pink Rebellion, because if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that breast cancer picked the wrong family.

I’m walking for my mom. I’m walking for myself. And I’m walking for everyone who has heard, or will someday hear, the words “you have breast cancer.”
