It's time to Walk for the Cure
I was diagnosed with stage one breast cancer in the spring of 2003. Thanks to a mammogram, my cancer was found early! In order to do all I could do to avoid a recurrence of cancer, I went through 4 prophylactic chemo treatments and then a month of radiation. Fifteen years after the completion of these treatments I was declared cancer-free!
I am ever grateful for the medical professionals that helped me get through this process AND for all that the Susan G. Komen Foundation has done to support breakthrough research and provide assistance to those facing breast cancer today who need our support. The foundation offers emotional support through the Komen helpline, financial support though Komen's financial assistance program, and help navigating services to break down barriers to care.
Over the years, I have had many friends who have fought this battle, and I know that each battle is unique. The Komen Foundation will continue their mission to end breast cancer forever.
Thank you all for your support not only of me but also the work the Komen Foundation does!
And remember, mammograms save lives!
