My Pink Story
This year, I joined the Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk. I will be walking for my Mimo, in honor of my mom, and for myself. When I was a teenager, I attended this with my mom, Mimo, and Aunt, celebrating remission and survivorship. It’s some of my best memories. Since I was diagnosed August 26th 2025, I said I wanted to make one of these walks when I finished my treatment.
So, here we are. This walk is set up as a fundraiser to raise money for breast cancer research as well as spreading awareness. I have set my fundraising to 0, however I’d like to invite anyone to register and walk with me! You can choose to donate through your registration if you’d like to, or set your own fundraising goal if you’d so wish.
From my memory, it was a lot of fun, with tons of booths to visit as well as the race/walk itself, and a beautiful ceremony recognizing survivors. Feeling the positive atmosphere and seeing all the survivors, supporters, and those still fighting was entirely moving. A reminder we are not alone in this horrific disease. I still have a framed picture from my mom’s day being recognized. It’s bittersweet to be a part of this community and also be recognized in this ceremony.
So, again, if you can, I’d love to invite you to walk with me to celebrate my remission, celebrate my Mimo being cancer free, and honor my mother who eventually lost her fight. If you don’t wish to walk, you can still come see me cross the finish line if you’d like! I’d love to see the support!
