This year, the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk means more to me than I ever imagined it would.
In 2004, I lost my mom to breast cancer. For more than 20 years, breast cancer was part of my story because of her. Then it became my story too when I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Today, I am incredibly grateful to say that I am a breast cancer survivor.
Walking this year feels different. I’m walking for my mom. I’m walking for myself. I’m walking for every woman and family who has heard the words “You have breast cancer,” and for the people who love them and walk through it alongside them.
That’s why I joined the Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk, and I would love for you to be part of it with me.
Donate if you can. Walk with us if you can. Or do both! The walk is only 2.5 miles, and I would love to have a huge group of family and friends walking together.
Every donation helps move us one step closer to a world without breast cancer. Funds raised support breakthrough research while also helping people who are facing breast cancer right now—through emotional support, financial assistance, and navigation services that help remove barriers to care.
I know firsthand how much it means to have people standing beside you when you are going through something like this. No one should have to face breast cancer alone.
So this year, I’m walking with a very full heart—for my mom, for myself, for the survivors, for those still fighting, and for those we’ve lost.
Ending breast cancer will take all of us.
