Dear Family, Friends and Supporters,

In 2020, just months after a normal mammogram, I found a lump that led to a breast cancer diagnosis. I underwent surgery, completed radiation, and began Tamoxifen.

This past January, I took my final Tamoxifen and officially graduated from my oncologist. After everything that journey held, that was a milestone I was incredibly grateful to reach.

Breast cancer changed the way I see this disease. It became personal in a way I never could have fully understood before. The appointments, testing, waiting, treatment decisions, fear, hope, and healing all became part of my own story.

This year, I am honored to once again co-captain Brascecutors Against Cancer alongside Christine, our captain, a colleague of Charles, and a two-time breast cancer survivor. Our team is made up of employees of the California Attorney General’s Office, along with family and friends who come together in support of Susan G. Komen’s ONE mission of ending breast cancer forever.

This year feels especially close to my heart because someone very close to me was also recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She is currently healing from surgery and preparing for the next phase of treatment. Watching someone I care about face her own breast cancer journey has been a powerful reminder that every story is different, but the need for support, research, resources, and hope remains the same.

For me, the More Than Pink Walk is about more than showing up on walk day. It is about standing beside those who are fighting, celebrating survivors like Christine, my mother-in-law Linda, and my dear friend Ana, who I have known since middle school and who was one of my greatest sources of support when I was diagnosed, remembering those we have lost, and helping support the research, resources, education, and care that can make a difference for the next person who hears the words, “I wish I had better news.”

Brascecutors Against Cancer has set a goal of raising $4,500 by October 12, 2026. We were so proud to be part of the Top Teams Village last year, and we would love to make it there again this year.
