Being diagnosed with breast cancer while raising a one year old was something I never imagined would be part of my story. I was considered low risk, but when I felt a lump in my breast, everything changed.

I spent my summer getting chemotherapy while trying to navigate cancer treatment and motherhood at the same time. I finished my last round of chemo, but my journey is far from over. I still have a long road ahead, including surgery, radiation, immunotherapy, and hormone therapy.

Through all of this, I have been incredibly grateful for the people who have carried me through the hardest days. My family has been my greatest source of strength. My husband has been by my side, my mom who never missed an appointment, my mother-in-law has been there to help care for Mason during chemo weeks, and my amazing coworkers who helped manage my workload (shout out to the dream team!). 

Thank you for every meal, every ride, every text, every visit, every hug, every offer to help with Mason, and every act of kindness. You lifted me up on the hardest days and reminded me that I was never facing this alone.

This experience has reminded me how important early detection is. After completing genetic testing, family history and my lifestyle, I was considered low risk and never imagined my first mammogram would change my life. If sharing my story encourages even one person to get checked or trust their instincts when something doesn't feel right, it's worth it.

I am endlessly grateful for my doctors and the incredible nurses who have cared for me with such compassion, kindness, and dedication. I’m also deeply thankful for the research and medical advances that have made my treatment possible. The progress that has been made in breast cancer research gives me so much hope for the future. I look forward to living a long, healthy cancer-free life; watching Mason grow, being there for him, and experiencing all of the moments that are still ahead.
