This year -- now 33 years since we first became involved with Komen -- I have once again joined my wife and the ONE Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk, set for Sunday, October 25, 2026 at Bushnell Park in Hartford. 

Barb's story ... she is a two-time breast cancer survivor 39 years and 14 years.  We were dating when she had her first cancer.  Many years later she found she also had the BRCA gene mutation that is predictive of breast and ovarian cancer.  There have been MANY surgeries over these 39 years!But she's always stayed alert and active in the cause.  She served on the founding committee of the Komen Connecticut Race for the Cure in 1993 and in 1999 on the Connecticut Affiliate Founding Committee. She has worked in all aspects of Race and Affiliate planning, sponsorship, fundraising, branding and grant-making.

After 42 Races and Walks over 33 years in Southwest Florida, Connecticut, Washington D.C., Dallas and NYC, Puffer's Pals alone has raised more than $95,000 in modest, grassroots, individual donations. We know that no donation is too small and no step too short or slow.We have kept at it rain or shine, with teams large and small -- even virtual if you'd like.  CT is a More Than Pink Walk now.  No race.  But even if you don't walk distances, we can visit at the festive walk site in Bushnell Park. If you have not joined us before, I hope you will consider it.  We are grateful for your ongoing support over the years. Thanks!!!!
