For those who may not know my story...

In April 2026, I was diagnosed with Stage 2A invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC), HER2-negative, hormone receptor-positive breast cancer.

I never missed my annual mammograms. In fact, I had my routine screening in March 2025. From my neighbor's (my angel on Earth) journey I learned that because I have dense breast tissue and knew there could be limitations with mammograms alone, I should ask for additional imaging. That decision changed everything.

My routine mammogram did not detect my cancer. An ultrasound and MRI revealed one of my tumors, but later found an additional larger one from surgery.

Breast cancer has changed my life forever, but it has also taught me one of the most important lessons: advocate for yourself. If you have dense breast tissue or feel something isn't right, ask questions. Request additional screening if it's appropriate for you. Early detection can save lives. 

On October 25, my family and I will be participating in a fundraising walk to celebrate survivors, support those currently in treatment, remember those we've lost, and help fund research that gives hope for a future without breast cancer.
