My Why
This year, the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk is deeply personal to me.
My breast cancer awareness journey began in college when my maternal aunt, Bonita, was diagnosed. Because of our family history, I began receiving mammograms at a young age. Thankfully, my screenings have remained negative, but each one reminds me why early detection, research, and continued support matter.
For more than 20 years, Aunt Bonita fought through treatments, remission, and recurrence before breast cancer ultimately claimed her life. Yet our family also knows the blessing of survival—Bonita’s mother, my grandmother, is a breast cancer survivor, and I am incredibly grateful she is still here with us today.
I created Team Pink Bo Round in Aunt Bonita’s honor—representing her many rounds of treatment, rounds of strength, and more than 20 years of fighting.
I walk in memory of Aunt Bonita, in celebration of my grandmother, and for every family impacted by breast cancer. Your donation helps support the research, resources, and efforts that give more families the opportunity to celebrate survivors.
Rounds of treatment. Rounds of strength. We walk for Aunt Bonita.
