From Warrior Wednesday to something bigger. 🎀

Earlier this year, someone on my team was diagnosed with breast cancer.

For her, hearing the word cancer wasn't new. She had already fought cancer as an adolescent. This time, her life quickly shifted from caring for patients every day to chemotherapy treatments every Friday.

And then something happened that I will never forget.

Week after week, Wednesday came. And so did she.

After spending the days following treatment recovering, she would return to her clinic on Wednesdays and Thursdays to do what she loves: help people hear better.

Her strength inspired what my team came to know as Warrior Wednesday.

Every Wednesday, my Massachusetts and Maine teams rallied around our warrior. We challenged ourselves to create more opportunities to help patients, and I tied those efforts to a personal monthly donation supporting the fight against breast cancer.

But Warrior Wednesday quickly became about so much more than a challenge or a donation.

It became about team, purpose, showing up for one another, and making sure one of our own knew she was never fighting alone.

Along the way, I also learned that her story wasn't the only one within our HearingLife family. There are survivors, warriors, caregivers, family members, friends, and people carrying stories we may never know simply by looking at them.

Now, something that started with one team rallying around one incredible woman has grown into an opportunity to support so many more.

This October, I am incredibly proud to support Susan G. Komen and raise funds for the fight against breast cancer.

I'm fundraising in honor of our warrior and every warrior who has heard the words no one ever wants to hear, as well as the families, friends, coworkers, caregivers, and communities who stand beside them.
