On February 2, my entire world changed when I found out I had breast cancer.Since then, I’ve endured a double mastectomy in March, followed by 16 grueling rounds of chemotherapy that pushed my body further than I ever imagined possible. There were days I truly didn’t know how I was going to make it through. Days when treatment nearly wiped me out. Days when simply getting out of bed felt like an accomplishment.

And I’m still fighting..

I will be moving on to 15 rounds of radiation, Monday through Friday, followed by 10+ years of maintenance medication to help keep this beast from ever coming back. I never imagined I would be a breast cancer patient. I never imagined these would be the battles I’d be fighting at 34 years old, but here I am and I refuse to let this experience be for nothing.

That’s why I’m walking.

I’m raising money for Susan G. Komen because ending breast cancer needs all of us.
