My Story
This year is a very special one for me. I am celebrating 20 years as a breast cancer survivor!
Twenty years ago, I was a mom with two young kids, and I never imagined that breast cancer would become part of my story. When I was diagnosed, one of the hardest things to think about was whether I would be there to see my kids graduate from high school and grow up.
Thankfully, I am here. And not only did I get to see them graduate, but today they are both in their 30s. Twenty years later, I’m still here, and that is something I never take for granted.
The reason I am here today is early detection. My cancer was found very early during a routine mammogram, and that experience is a big part of why this walk means so much to me. I want to remind every woman I know to get her mammogram, stay on top of her screenings, and pay attention to her health. Early detection can truly make a difference.
For the past several years, I have been part of the Willow Creek Walk for the Cure, and this year is especially meaningful. I’m helping organize the walk, and I would love for you to join me as I celebrate this 20-year milestone and help raise money for breast cancer research.
If you can’t walk with us, I hope you’ll consider making a donation. Every dollar helps fund research and supports people facing breast cancer today.
I’m incredibly grateful to all of you who have supported me over the years. Your encouragement, friendship and kindness have meant more to me than I can say.
Twenty years later, I’m still walking and I’d love to have you walk with me.
