Welcome to #TeamHummingbird

This walk means a lot to me for so many reasons. I’m walking for myself and everything I’ve gone through with breast cancer this year, but I’m also walking for my mom. She fought breast cancer too. ❤

The kids and I always say Grandma Cruz comes to visit us as a hummingbird because we have one that seems to always show up by our kitchen window, usually right as we’re getting ready for breakfast or dinner. So when I was thinking about what to call our team, #TeamHummingbird just felt right.

She fought. I fight. We walk.

But there’s another really important part of this story: all of you.

Our family and friends rallied around my mom during her fight all those years ago, and now, so many of you have done the same for me. This past year has definitely not been an easy one, but I’ve never had to go through it alone. From the calls and texts, prayers and check-ins, meals, rides, helping with the kids, showing up when I needed you, or simply reminding me that I had people in my corner, our family has felt so incredibly loved and supported.

So when I say “We Walk,” I really mean WE. ❤

#TeamHummingbird is for my mom and for me, but it’s also for every fighter, every survivor, the angels we’ve lost, the families who have walked this road alongside someone they love, and every person who has shown up along the way.
