My Breast Cancer Journey
My breast cancer journey began with a screening mammogram on November 11, 2025. What started as a routine appointment quickly turned into additional testing, including a mammogram with ultrasound on December 3 and a breast biopsy on December 8.
Then, on December 11, 2025, I received the words no one ever wants to hear: I had breast cancer.
From that moment, life changed. There was fear, uncertainty, and so many emotions to process - but there was also strength I didn't know I had.
On January 13, 2026, I had surgery. Then, on March 2, I began radiation therapy. Radiation was not easy, but I showed up each day, one step at a time, trusting the process and holding on to hope.
And on March 26, 2026, I rang the bell.
That sound meant so much more than the end of radiation. It represented courage, faith, resilience, and the support of everyone who helped me through one of the hardest seasons of my life.
This journey changed me. It reminded me how precious life is, how important early detection can be, and how powerful it is to have people walking beside you.
Now, I'm turning my experience into purpose. My Breastie, Thonie, and I are participating in the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk in Tampa on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
We walk for ourselves.
We walk for each other.
We walk for everyone impacted by breast cancer.
Every step matters. Every story matters. And no one should have to walk this journey alone.
