My Cause
On October 10th, my family and I will be participating in the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk in Washington DC. Leading us (and maybe even the entire field) on the walk will be my sister, Brooke, who was diagnosed with stage 3C triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) in January 2026.
Brooke has undergone six months of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, a bilateral mastectomy with lymph node dissection and will now undergo five weeks of proton therapy. After proton therapy, she will be enrolling in a phase 3 clinical trial out of Johns Hopkins in Baltimore to further reduce her risk of recurrence.
While this journey for Brooke has not been easy and still continues, it has been remarkable to see her fight back and continue to be the same loving mother, wife, sister, daughter, and friend that we all know her to be. This is a testament to her caring nature and determination to take on anything that comes her way.
Organizations and foundations like Susan G. Komen provide critical fundraising for research to discover more effective treatments. In addition to research funding, Susan G. Komen also supports patient navigation, advocacy, and patient care services related to breast cancer.
You can support Brooke, other cancer patients, and the research for future treatments by participating in the walk with us, donating to our team, or simply praying for those working to fight this disease.
