My Story
Last August I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer and my world suddenly changed. As knowledgeable and vigilant I was about the importance of mammograms, this cancer decided to sneak in 6 months after a clear mammogram. I was always under the assumption that if you had regular mammograms, you were one step ahead of anything that could possibly happen. Doing self breast exams are key in addition to a mammogram. Had I not been regularly doing self checks, my story may not be as positive . In February of this year, after chemotherapy , I had a mastectomy with reconstruction was so blessed that there was no microscopic evidence of cancer found .
I believe that we all have that misconception that cancer happens to other people. Well, as a survivor I can tell you it doesn’t care how healthy you are, how many things you need to accomplish, or how many people who depend on you. I honestly never felt that cancer would be a part of my story. I had parents that lived into their 80s and 90s with no major health issues. This year, I joined the Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk. I am dedicated to Komen's mission of ending breast cancer forever, and I need your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.
Ending breast cancer needs all of us, and your generosity can make a real difference. Together, let’s show breast cancer patients there’s a whole community standing by their side.
Will you please join me in this fight by making your donation today?
