My Story
It's official: I beat breast cancer. I'm officially a survivor twice!!
I received my initial diagnosis in December 2020. After discussions with my Breast Surgeon and Radiologist, it was decided that I would undergo 20 rounds of radiation following my lumpectomy, starting in March 2021. I was resolute in my determination to remain strong, facing this challenge with bravery, resilience, and courage. Even during the tough times, I kept smiling and sought out the silver linings. Ultimately, on April 19th, 2021, I struck the gong and celebrated the conclusion of my treatment. It was the most wonderful birthday gift I could have asked for! My ongoing treatment involved taking Tamoxifen and attending follow-up mammograms and biopsies. Everything was going well until May 2024, when I learned that the cancer had returned, leading to the decision that a mastectomy was the best course of action. I chose to undergo a double mastectomy because I wanted to eliminate any concerns about the healthy breast.
There are additional steps involved in my double mastectomy with reconstruction, but fortunately, I won't require any further treatment afterward. I consider myself an extraordinary woman who has confronted a life-altering challenge and emerged victorious.
Breast cancer has impacted far too many individuals, myself included. This is why I have joined Komen's MORE THAN PINK Walk, to pay tribute to survivors and thrivers, remember those we've lost, and provide support to anyone in our community affected by this disease.
Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts. Ending breast cancer needs all of us, and your generosity can make a real difference. Together, let’s show breast cancer patients there’s a whole community standing by their side.
Will you please join me in this fight by making your donation today?
