My Story
My breast cancer journey began unexpectedly in April 2025. I had no signs or symptoms, and my mammogram appeared normal. But an MRI revealed multiple areas of concern, and additional testing confirmed that I had Stage 1A breast cancer.
In June 2025, I underwent a bilateral mastectomy. What began as a routine screening turned into a life-changing journey—one filled with difficult decisions, recovery, support, strength, and gratitude.
While I was not “surprised” having a cancer diagnosis because of extensive family history, hearing the diagnosis was still startling. This experience has reminded me of the importance of early detection, advocating for yourself, and appreciating the people who show up for you when you need them most. I move forward with strength, faith, gratitude for those who showed up for me, and a deeper appreciation for life.
