Apparently, 2026 decided I needed some excitement so it picked breast cancer. Zero stars. Would not recommend. 

In May of 2025, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and quickly found myself in a world of appointments, scans, surgeries-to-be-planned, and six rounds of chemo. Since then, I’ve named my port Pearl, lost some hair, gained an impressive amount of medical vocabulary, kept running when my body lets me, and learned that I am surrounded by some truly incredible humans.

And the good news? Treatment is progressing. Every infusion, appointment, mile, laugh, and ridiculous pink accessory gets me one step closer to putting this chapter behind me.

That’s why this walk means so much to me. I’m walking for myself, for every person who has heard the words “you have breast cancer,” and for the people who show up beside us and somehow make the scary stuff feel a little less scary.
