My Story
Cancer doesn’t care if she’s your mother, your best friend, your sister, or someone you love…
This year, I joined the Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk on behalf of my sister, Lynn, myself and my family members that carry the BRCA1 gene mutation.
Lynn was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016. Genetic testing revealed that she carries the BRCA1 mutation. Following the guidance of her medical team, she underwent a bilateral mastectomy and faced her diagnosis with incredible strength and determination.
Nine years later, in November 2025, breast cancer returned. Once again, Lynn chose to fight. She endured chemotherapy and then surgery in April. After surgery, the pathology results brought yet another unexpected challenge: she was also diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. She is currently undergoing additional chemotherapy and continues to face each day with remarkable courage.
As a member of B CUPS for a CURE, I am walking not only for Lynn but for every member of my family affected by the BRCA1 mutation and for everyone whose life has been touched by breast cancer. Together we are raising awareness, supporting life saving research, and working toward a future where no family has to face this disease. Every step we take brings us closer to our shared mission: ending breast cancer forever.
I am dedicated to Komen's mission of ending breast cancer and I need your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.
Your support helps us get one step closer to a world without breast cancer. Funds raised help support breakthrough research and provide assistance to those facing breast cancer today who need our support. Whether it’s emotional support via Komen’s helpline, financial support through Komen’s financial assistance program, or navigation services to break down barriers to care, Komen will be there for them.
Ending breast cancer needs all of us, and your generosity can make a real difference. Together, let’s show Lynn and all breast cancer patients there’s a whole community standing by their side.
Will you please join me in this fight by walking with me in the More Than Pink Walk on September 27th and/or making your donation today?
