My Story
Katrina and Kristin have been friends since high school and pursued carers in nursing, which inspired their team name, Strength in Scrubs. They were diagnosed and completed treatment around the same time. They have dedicated our lives to helping those in need, and now, they need your help!
Breast cancer upends the lives of FAR too many women and the rate is rising in younger women like themselves. Please read their stories and consider donating any amount to help support this cause. Even $10 can make a big difference. Thank you for your consideration!
Kristin's Story:
In July 2024, I was diagnosed with Stage II triple-negative metaplastic carcinoma, which is a rare and aggressive type of breast cancer. After 16 rounds of chemo, 18 rounds of immunotherapy, 20 rounds of radiation, and 2 surgeries, there is no evidence of disease (aka, I'm CANCER FREE)! I will be closely monitored by my oncology team over the next 10 years to watch for any signs of recurrence. Two treatments I'm most grateful for immunotherapy and cell-free DNA blood testing, which are recent breakthroughs to prevent and monitor for recurrence for aggressive types of cancers. Consider donating to our team to support life-saving scientific advancements that too many women depend on! It's truly an honor to be a survivor, and I appreciate the simple gift of being alive!
Katrina's Story:
In November of 2024, I was diagnosed with Stage IIA Invasive ductal carcinoma of the right breast (ER and PR strongly positive, Her-2 neu negative) breast cancer. This diagnosis will and has changed my life forever. After 16 rounds of Chemo, 30 rounds of Radiation and a bilateral mastectomy, I am now CANCER FREE!!! I will be taking medication for a few years to prevent my cancer from coming back and following up with my oncologist frequently, but it feels SO good that the storm is over! Medicine and treatments have continued to grow and develop to help battle this rotten disease. Raising money to cure cancer and put money towards the research of it can help us one day say we have a cure!
As a member of this team, we are each playing a part in helping Susan G. Komen® in their mission to end breast cancer forever. Ending breast cancer needs all of us. United together, we can support those who need help today, while fearlessly searching for tomorrow's cures.
Will you please join us in this fight by making your donation today?
