Welcome to Team Eliza – 2026 Edition!
Join us Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Woodland Park Zoo!!
We're launching this year's team in August — Eliza's birthday month. It feels right. It always feels right to begin something in the month that was hers.
Seven years. That's how long we've been walking together as Team Eliza — and this year, our 4th at Woodland Park Zoo, we come back with the same love and a motto that finally says out loud what we've always felt deep down:
Her Fight Lives on in Me.
We walk in honor of Eliza Reid Erickson — our beautiful daughter-in-law, who was diagnosed in August 2019, just days after her 26th birthday, with an aggressive form of breast cancer. No family history. No warning signs. Just a diagnosis that arrived in the middle of a life that was full and bright and just getting started. Eliza didn't flinch. She fought with a courage and grace that took our breath away — for 14 months, doing everything she could to stay. In October 2020, she left us far too soon.
But she will never really leave us.
We see her every day. In a sunny afternoon that arrives out of nowhere. In a hummingbird that lingers just a little too long. And most of all, in Logan — almost 9 years old now, growing into exactly the kind of person her mama would have raised: strong, joyful, curious, and full of light. Every time we look at Logan, we see Eliza. Every step we take, we carry her forward.
Six years of walking together have shown us something important: grief doesn't shrink. But the distance between here and the world Eliza deserved — a world where a 26-year-old woman doesn't get that phone call — that distance does. Every dollar we raise closes it a little more.
Walk with us on Saturday, September 26, 2026. Donate if you can't. Tell someone about Eliza if you are not able to do anything else. Let's make this our biggest year yet — not just in dollars, but in the size of the team that shows up to say: we haven't forgotten, and we won't stop.
As a member of this team, we are each playing a part in helping Susan G. Komen in their mission to end breast cancer forever.
The money our team raises will fund research to discover more effective treatments, as well as vital patient support to help connect people with things like breast cancer education & information, emotional support, patient navigation, financial assistance and so much more.
Ending breast cancer needs all of us. United together, we can support those who need help today, while fearlessly searching for tomorrow's cures.
Please join us in this fight by making your donation today?
All the love.
