My story has been more or less the same for years.  That changed last year.  Last year, 2 days before the walk I was diagnosed with breast cancer.  I had been diligent about my exams, so it was caught early and after surgery and radiation I’m doing fine.  This is just the latest chapter in my fight toward ending breast cancer forever.

When I was in third grade, I lost my mother to breast cancer.  Since then, 6 other women in my family have been impacted by this disease.  In my mother's memory, in celebration of the women in my family, and in acknowledgement of my own battle, I again joined the ONE Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk.  

It seems nearly everyone knows someone whose life has been touched by breast cancer.  This is why we need to keep up the fight -- and why I'm participating in this year's MORE THAN PINK Walk.
